Verse 1
Christmas, if you please,
Take your time with me.
Keep the evening young,
Leave the last bell unrung.
There’s a card upon the mantel
For a face I long to see.
Refrain
Oh, Christmas, if you please,
Send a little luck my way.
There’s someone I have loved so long
And so much I’ve yet to say.
If wishes travel far,
Find her where she’s meant to be.
And whisper, when you reach her,
There’s a Christmas wish from me.
Verse 2
Christmas, if you can,
Lend a hand to one poor man.
I’ve rehearsed a thousand greetings
And forgotten every plan.
Should she come tonight,
There’s a place beside the light.
Refrain
Oh, Christmas, if you please,
Send a little luck my way.
There’s someone I have loved so long
And so much I’ve yet to say.
If wishes travel far,
Find her where she’s meant to be.
And whisper, when you reach her,
There’s a Christmas wish from me.

Final Refrain
Oh, Christmas, if you please,
Let the evening linger here.
I can hear her at the doorway,
And her laughter’s drawing near.
So keep your silver stars,
Your ribbons and your trees.
You’ve brought the one I wanted home,
Dear Christmas, if you please.
Outro
Christmas, if you please,
Stay a little while with me.
