Intro
A million people in this city
A million places we could be
But Christmas had a little plan
For you and me…
Verse 1
I was walking down Fifth Avenue
With nowhere much to go
The windows dressed for Christmas
And the sidewalks dressed in snow
You were rushing past a corner
With a coffee in your hand
Then you slipped into my Christmas
Like a moment no one planned
Pre-Chorus
You laughed and said, “I’m sorry!”
I said, “Don’t apologize”
And somewhere in that busy street
December changed before my eyes
Chorus
Oh, what a Christmas coincidence
What a wonderful surprise
A city full of strangers
And I found heaven in your eyes
With the taxis and the traffic
And the snowflakes falling free
Of all the Christmas miracles
You happened into me
Oh, what a Christmas coincidence
What a lovely twist of fate
I wasn’t looking for forever
But forever couldn’t wait
Verse 2
We found the Maraboli Café
With a table by the glass
Watched the yellow taxis dancing
As the Christmas crowds went past
You stole the whipped cream off my cocoa
I pretended not to see
Then you laughed and said, “You’re trouble!”
I said, “Only if you’re with me!”
You called it serendipitous
I said, “It must be Christmas fate”
You smiled and said, “Whatever it is…
I won’t forget this date.”
We wandered past the windows
Where the city shone so bright
And every little Christmas light
Looked prettier that night
Pre-Chorus
I don’t know if it was destiny
Or December having fun
But somehow in a city full of people
You became my favorite one
Chorus
Oh, what a Christmas coincidence
What a wonderful surprise
A city full of strangers
And I found heaven in your eyes
With the taxis and the traffic
And the snowflakes falling free
Of all the Christmas miracles
You happened into me
Oh, what a Christmas coincidence
What a lovely twist of fate
I wasn’t looking for forever
But forever couldn’t wait
Bridge
We took a walk by Rockefeller
Watched the skaters spin around
You said, “I think I love this city”
I said, “I love who I just found!”
You rolled your eyes and laughed at me
Said, “That was quite a line!”
I said, “Well, blame it on the Christmas lights…
They’ve got me feeling fine!”
And when the snow began to fall
You reached to take my hand
And suddenly this crazy town
Felt like a wonderland
Final Chorus
Oh, what a Christmas coincidence
What a wonderful surprise
A city full of strangers
And I found heaven in your eyes
Let the whole world keep on rushing
Let the taxis come and go
I’ve got everything I wished for
Walking with you through the snow
Oh, what a Christmas coincidence
What a lovely twist of fate
A million people in this city
And you’re the one I couldn’t wait
To meet…
Outro
So here’s to little accidents
And plans we never made
To Christmas lights on city streets
And love on a snowy day
And if you ask me how we met
I’ll smile and say, “You see…
New York was dressed for Christmas…
And Christmas introduced you to me.”
